Yoga is for Everyone – regardless of your path, body type, age, or flexibility.

The session will take place on July 9th and 10th, from 8am to 3pm at the Louisdale Lions Club facility.

We will touch on:

  • asana (the exercising part),
  • breathing techniques (to calm and focus the mind along with other health benefits),
  • meditation,
  • food (crucial step to self-wellness ),
  • philosophy of attachment and aversion
  • yoga for anxiety, anger and depression.

Schedule

Saturday July 9th

7:30am – 8am – Registration/ meet & great/ set-up

8am – 9:30am – Breathing techniques and  Meditation

9:30 – 10am – Chai tea Break (Chai will be provided)*

10am – 11:30 – Asana class (there will be explanation of the poses and modifications given.  Some poses will be workshoped and broken down)

11:30am – 12:30pm – Lunch break

12:20pm – 3pm – Discussion on Ayurveda. Dosha typing questionnaire.  Six (6) tastes and food to help pacify dosha imbalances.

 

Sunday July 10th

8am – 9:30am – Breathing techniques and  Meditation

9:30 – 10am – Chai tea Break (Chai will be provided)

10am – 11:30 – Asana class (there will be explanation of the poses and modifications given.  Some poses will be workshoped and broken down)

11:30am – 12:30pm – Lunch break (Kitchari, a dosha balancing meal will be served)

12:20pm – 3pm – Discussion of yoga philosophy on attachment and aversion.  Discussion on Anxiety, Anger and depression and some associated yoga practices.

*Chai this is a spiced tea with dairy milk. Spices include cinnamon, cardamon, ginger, pepper, cloves, vanilla and black tea.  It is made with dairy milk.  If enough people would like almond milk as a substitute, please send that request with registration.

What to Bring:

It’s not mandatory to have a yoga mat, but it is recommended.

  • yoga mat.
  • cushions to sit on for mediation and up to two (2) other cushions or blankets.
  • shawl or blanket for meditation – your body may cool down and it’s nice to have a blanket warped around you.
  • Lunch on Saturday – Sunday lunch will be provided. It is a traditional Ayurvedic Indian dish and is made with spices like turmeric, coriander, cumin, graham masala and others.  If an alternate lunch is preferred, please bring your own lunch on Sunday.
  • Snacks if you will be hungry throughout the session.  The Lions Club Facility is not near a convenience store.
  • Note book and pen if you want to take notes during discussion sessions. There will also be a dosha typing questionnaire to fill out.
  • Comfortable clothes you can move around in.

*Please come before 8am on Saturday and Sunday to get settled. The breathing and meditation class will be a time of concentration and it is best for your fellow students to have minimal distraction.*

The workshop fee for the 2-days is $75 before June 24th.*

After June 24th, the fee will increase to $80 for the two (2) days.*

*All fees will be plus tax.
